Poetry

Between the Shadow and the Soul, Duncan’s debut collection, explores the themes of unconditional and unrequited love. The following is a small excerpt from the 50 page manuscript.

Hopeless

Even when hope goes out
I will still be searching
Leave your lighthouse lit
I’ll find you
A complete vessel
Or pieces in the water
Washing up on your shore
I’ll return to you
From all of the dark
Secret places
Where love is rendered
Hopeless, but enduring

Epiphany

Forever
This will burn forever
From first breath to last

No hope to guide it
No reason to help it

It will walk the streets
Against the wind
Though marked by fate

Growing wilder
Ever smoldering
From sunrise to sundown
From the core of the soul

Self-confident
Daring
Defiant

Fueled by drippings
Of past incarnations
Open to the future
Embracing the past
